Various Artists Compilation (Stotrojka 009)

Long story short. Our beloved radio Kanal 103 is now officially illegal and it hasn’t been broadcasting on FM for three years. In our long and turbulent history we are no strangers to all sorts of vicissitudes, and as usual, we decided to be creative about it.

We made a call (повик) to action and shared our “very own” 103fm white noise with the radio’s friends, lovers and allies, inviting them to use it as a starting point and compose a music piece for us: to make virtue out of necessity, to make something out of nothing and also to have some fun.

This compilation is their overwhelming response.

It features artists from Macedonia, France, England, Finland, Serbia, Scotland, Sweden and Iran.

Notes on the cover photo:

„Повикувачот“ (The Caller), acrylic on canvas, 450x500 cm.
No signature.

The painting is based on a fragment from the monumental mural „Фреска за НОБ“ (Fresco about People's Liberation War) by the Macedonian artist Borko Lazeski, made in 1956 and then partially destroyed during the 1963 Skopje earthquake. The human factor did the rest.

The canvas is located one floor above the Kanal 103 studio, in one of the corridors of the national broadcasting building, together with huge amount of set dressing leftovers and electronic waste.
The painting is drastically damaged in many places. In addition, many parts of the canvas have bird droppings. Complete conservation and restoration is required.
